Safety Advice

On The Beach

Kids on the beach, stay in reach. In a gentle breeze, inflatable's can become lethal toys. Make sure your inflatable is tied to the shore and always ensure your children are supervised on the beach.

Beware, slippery when wet. Never climb on cliffs and keep clear of the edge. Even gentle slopes can be dangerous when wet.

Don't drink and drown. If you swim too soon after a meal or alcohol you will get tired and cold and may get cramps.

Check and check again. Always check the weather and tides before leaving, especially if you are visiting a remote beach.

At Sea

Plan your trip. Know how long the trip is likely to take, who will keep watch, and what safe havens are en route. Leave these details with someone ashore.

Up the creek without a paddle. Always carry a spare method of propulsion and a spare can of fuel. Carry a tool kit with essential spares.

Check, check and check again. Check that your engine and equipment is working. Check you have the appropriate safety equipment. Check the weather and tide tables.

Know your limitations. Only sail within your own ability and that of your crew. Know and understand the limitations of your boat.
